Mt Cook Station Huts from outside

Station Huts

Peaceful getaway from the stresses of the outside world

Located just outside the main homestead, these two unique farm huts were originally used to house the shepherds who worked on the station many years ago.

The exterior is old and original however, the interior is new and refreshing. They are outdoor living at its best – you need to go outside to get to the bathroom and kitchen.

Outdoor seating is available with views over the garden, pet animals and Tasman River and the Southern Alps. A short walk away is amazing views of Aoraki/Mount Cook.

Mt Cook Station is a working station and we do not allow visiting dogs on the property.

Insect Repellent is essential in the summer months.

Because of the remote nature of Mt Cook Station, it would be best to fuel up your vehicle before arriving. If you are driving an EV, please ensure this is fully charged in Tekapo or Twizel before you begin your journey to us.

Limited to no mobile phone coverage, but there is Wifi available.

During winter months snow may make the access roads impassable or chains may be required.

The station is approx 40mins – 1-hour travel from Lake Tekapo Township along mostly gravel roads. See directions here.

Mount Cook Station does not have direct access to Mount Cook Village, which is situated on the other side of Lake Pukaki and the Tasman River. This will take you approx 1.5-hours drive to get there.
